The Outsiders 'CQ' (1968)
Their 2nd and final full length finds these Dutchmen headed in an experimental direction. Not a bad thing when combined with their already solid R & B garage rock sound. They probably just took more drugs to make music to take more drugs to. Fine by me.

Vreselijk vies!

Pebbles Volume 25: The Continent Lashes Back! Holland Part 3
Freshly returned from the Netherlands, I offer you yet another "uitstekende selectie" of 60's Dutch garage punk 'n' R&B. Heel goed voor uw oren!
In the comments is a link to Pebbles 23: Holland part 2. THANKS to "anonymous" for this !!

Cruncher!

Pebbles Volume 15: The Continent Lashes Back! The Netherlands 1965-1968
Holland is coming soon. I can feel it! 16 "klassiek" tracks will take you there too! And the liner notes agree: There were some fantastic Dutch bands whose recorded efforts could easily stand up to the most revered UK and US garage ikons. (You'll hear) pop, primitive R & B, Blues, along with some unclassifiable aberrations bordering psychedelic, modbeat, and just plain inspired uglitude... Holland was happening!

Thinking about today

The Outsiders 'Finishing Touch' (1989)
There is nothing like a nice cup of hot coffee in Amsterdam. This collection of Outsiders singles hits the spot though, with, as the subtitle suggests, "Original hit recordings and more." True to the "EMI Compact Price" the packaging is shoddy and worse yet the recordings seem mastered at slightly lower volume. But that should not dissuade you from obtaining this because you'll just turn it up louder.
The first track on this "Story 16," is not included because you can get that on the first album (see Outsiders label in sidebar).

Dutch treats

The Outsiders (1967)
While a lot of bands were exploring psychedelic rock in '67, The (Dutch) Outsiders kept it simple and punchy. Their debut starts out with 5 live tracks and then kicks into high gear on side two with 6 studio cuts. Wally Tax sounds so calm on 'Filthy Rich', one of my favorite punk songs with a simple fuzzed out lead guitar riff pre-dating the first Stooges album. More info at popfloor.
As an added bonus, here is a three song 12", 'Here's A Heart', by The Lyres that includes 'Touch' recorded live on dutch radio with Wally Tax.

Q'65 'Greatest Hits' (1971)
A super collection of hits by this Dutch r & b cum punk band, recorded 1965-1969.
The Den Haag (The Hague) group Q '65 played raw garage-style music and was often compared for that with their English counterparts, Pretty Things. Remarkable, however, was the singer's voice, who never learned to pronounce English words properly, which resulted in some really amusing-sounding output on their records. Other notable affairs of the group were, amongst others, their stunt of sailing to England by a rubber boat, and also how they often managed to hang halfway over the loudspeaker boxes, in order to keep themselves from falling over. Sometimes, in concert, Peter Vink sat down on the stage, playing as if he was stoned! - Nederpop
