Starship

Spacemen 3 'Translucent Flashbacks (The Glass Singles)' (1995)
The Spacemen's 3 EP's combined in one nice double LP package. A fine place to start (and perhaps finish) your exploration into their oeuvre of work... things'll never be the same once you do.

Sonic spectrum

Sonic Boom 'Angel' 12" (1989)
And now, here is Sonic Boom's first solo record, released before Sp3 broke up. Somewhat simplified compared to Spiritualized, but not in a bad way. Drones, fuzz, simple rhythm, vocals: space is the place.

Breezy

Spiritualized 'Anyway That You Want Me/Step Into The Breeze 1 & 2' 12" (1990)
After the breakup of Spacemen 3, Jason and Sonic went on to create vast libraries of great (and some mediocre) music with Spiritualized and Spectrum respectively, neither one quite achieving the sublimity of their former band. This first 12" by Spiritualized has a symphonic feel, mixing strings with fuzzed guitar. "Anyway..." ends up louder and heavier than the Troggs original. Thoroughly spacey and enjoyable.

O.D. Catastrophe

Spacemen 3 'Sound of Confusion' (1986, 1989)
Yet more Spacemen...this time it's their 1st LP. More "garagey" in a Suicide meets Stooges meets 13th Floor Elevators meets drugged repetitive motion kind of way. Sound confusing? Well then, listen for yourself.

Take Me To The Other Side

Spacemen 3 'The Perfect Prescription' (1987)
Finally getting around to posting my favorite Spacemen record. Feel so good.

Music to take with drugs

Spacemen 3 'Revolution' (1988) and 'Hypnotized' (1989) CDEPs
Here is some more "revolutionary" space rock...
But hold on a second
I smell burning
And I see a change
Comin’ ‘round the bend
And I suggest to you
That it takes
Just five seconds
Just five seconds
Of decision
To realise
That the time
Is right
To start thinkin’ about
A little…
Revolution!

Spacemen 3 'Losing Touch With Your Mind...' (1991)
Spacemen 3 demand your undivided attention. And reward it by "turning your mind inside out" and re-structuring it; by making you make up your mind. - from the liner notes
A collection of alternate mixes that works best as a nice career spanning retrospective.
