Big Star '#1 Record' (1972)
No 70's rock collection should be without this one!
Alex Chilton and Chris Bell were the Memphis whiz kids at the heart of Big Star. They mixed British pop finesse with all-American hard rock, from the surging "Feel" to the acoustic "Thirteen." Big Star didn't sell many records at the time, but over the years they inspired artists such as R.E.M. and Jeff Buckley. - Rolling Stone, 12/11/03

finally...i get to hear this. thanks!
Big Star were so damn cool and that Memphis sound lives today!
I am always amazed to see Rolling Stone magazine review albums that they should have reviewed and praised back then! They say in the review not many people listened to this one back then, well that is no thanks to them. Why weren't they interviewing Chilton back then instead of interviewing Bette Midler, Jackson 5, or some other lame fluffballs like Andy Gibb etc....what a lame excuse for magazine they were/ are.
Love your blog chief, keep it up!

Hey, I love Big Star, don't blame them for reedy whiners like Michael Stipe. god I hate Rolling Stone. R.I.P. Chris Bell.
