The Thanes 'Evolver' (2004)
I first heard about the Thanes while researching the Green Telescope (heard elsewhere on this blog). I finally was able to hear them thanks to the Wicked Thing blog posting several of their releases. After months of searching I picked up this double album retrospective of early singles, rarities and album cuts from 1987 through 2003. The Thanes rose from the ashes of the GT in 1987 and as far as I know are still playing some of the finest garage rock out there, yeh, yeh. As Pilot X of the Soup Dragons puts it in the liner notes, "We took the Thanes out on a few supports in the early days and wow! Boy they rocked! My favourite memories: The band was so retro/accurate that we witnessed them on several occasion tuning up backstage using pitchpipes!!!! And the bass player's strings must have been about 30 years old - they were so dead and dull, but they sounded so subsonic and totaly 60s! Lenny's hair was always clean and man, that boy was always smiling. And when he wailed he was like a caveman discovering fire!!!!!! The keyboard player Bruce was like a gaunt phantom spectre hovering, almost levitating, on his keyboards and there was pretty boy floyd with his geometric hair. I was definitely a fan!" Now, go get disc 1 and disc 2.
Anyone have 'The Thanes of Cawdor' to share?

This looks good, I think I'm going to reach my maximum on 80's garage rock 60s revivalism soon, however. I'm never over it for good and I'm sure I'll wind up downloading an Untold Fables LP before too long . Thanks!
I agree, but sometimes it seems that when you've reached that point you discover something new...
Cheers!
And hey if you find some UF, lemme know.
