The Gun Club 'The Las Vegas Story' (1984)
The first Gun Club record I ever bought, on cassette tape no less. I love this album (as I do all their records!) and quite disagree with the Trouser Press assesment that "it's an uneven album, an odd survey of the wrong side of countless sets of tracks...instrumentally too sloppy/punky for the Middle America saga it aspires to be." I actually find it to be one of their finest. Go ahead, walk with the beast!

Yes! And "Eternally Is Here" is the best song JLP ever did!
this is a cklassic
I have to second Racing Rabbit, though I think "Fire of Love" is my favorite album.
Thanks. Folks keep talking about these guys in the same breath as the Bassholes so I had to give this a shot.
. I totally agree with you: For me, it's Gun Club's best album and a real milestone in RnR history.... (the Masterplan has always be my favorite)....
Man I've been listening to these guys so much more lately than I ever did back in the day. Go figure. Love this blog...stop by mine and say hello sometime.
Great record.

I've been listening to Fire of Love lately. I'm looking forward to this one.
Thanks, I have Fire of love and Miami and am really looking forward to listening to this!
I love this album because it has the great songwriting of Miami but minus the terrible production/out of tune singing that makes that amazing album hard to appreciate at times.
